Biography:
A Southern California native, Wayne W. Chen, MD is Medical Director for AIDS Healthcare Foundation’s (AHF) California Managed Care Operation. He works with AHFs corporate partners in the areas of quality management and accreditation, utilization management, case management and disease management. He also works closely with provider relations and network development. He is also providing Geriatric consultative services to members on a limited basis at selected AHF clinics.

Dr. Chen has had a lifelong interest in caring for the elderly and has dedicated his life and education to this pursuit. He attended Caltech as an undergrad and pursued a medical degree at the Keck School of Medicine at the University of Southern California. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine at Los Angeles County and USC Medical Centers (LAC+USC).

He continued his training as a geriatric fellow with the Department of Geriatric and General Internal Medical at LAC+USC. In 2004, he joined the faculty as a geriatrician, internist, and associate professor of clinical medicine with the Department of Geriatric and General Internal Medicine at USC.

Dr. Chen enjoys increasing community awareness about the identification and treatment of dementia. He is a frequent speaker at local organizations and has been an active member of the Alzheimer’s Association Speakers Bureau since 2004, as well as a member of its Advisory Committee.

Dr. Chen also serves as an expert medical reviewer for the State of the California. In 2010, Dr. Chen was appointed to the Medicare Evidence & Coverage Advisory Committee which advices the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Service.
